Batman: Outlaws 3

Not as good as the first two issues, but who cares? Some amazing panels. Moench seems like he converted a Batmovie pitch.

Batman: Outlaws 2

Strangely topical conspiracy bits from Moench. The art’s still crazy–Gulacy composes some wild pages here–a fine ride.

Batman: Outlaws 1

It’s crazy–the inks and colors, especially inks–make Gulacy Eisneresque. Moench’s script’s fine but the art’s the draw.

Detective Comics 504

Newton’s art’s only okay here–his Joker is poor. The writing’s lame–the plot fails at any invention, it’s middling.

Batman Confidential 21

Catwoman disappears so it’s an all Batgirl issue. Too bad the story is, once again, a standard and poorly paced one.

Batman Confidential 20

And here we watch the superior Batman do what the weaker sex cannot, even after they team up. Lousy cliffhanger too.

Batman Confidential 19

Not being offensive, it’s leagues ahead of the previous issues. Still, it’s only a standard plot with some good art.

Batman Confidential 18

Unbelievably sexist issue. It’s spectacularly sexist in fact. Maguire’s way too good for this kind of trash writing.

Batman Confidential 17

The art makes up for a bunch, like Catwoman’s boring costume. But the writing–the plotting–is surprisingly sexist.

Legends of the Dark Knight 30

Wagner’s writing falls apart as his art–he recycles the same layouts issue to issue–becomes tiresome. Blah.

Legends of the Dark Knight 29

Some fine scenes–not many with Batman. Wagner has an tenuous grasp on the character, he’s better with Bruce.

Legends of the Dark Knight 28

Better writing than I had expected and some creative layouts from Wagner. Still, it starts and finishes weak.
