Swamp Thing #19-20 by Brian K. Vaughan and Giuseppe Camuncoli

May 27th, 2008 · No Comments

Vaughan’s Swamp Thing finale is a cop-out mess. Worst is the last page, which references a famous old Swamp Thing shot, not because the homage is a bad idea, but because Camuncoli is such a terrible artist. Even with Cameron Stewart inking, these are easily the two worst illustrated issues of the series (no wonder […]

Swamp Thing #18 by Brian K. Vaughan and Giuseppe Camuncoli

May 13th, 2008 · No Comments

Vaughan even leads into the second issue well, by […]

Deadman #2-5 by Bruce Jones and John Watkiss

April 7th, 2008 · No Comments

There’s a disconnect between writing and art after Deadman’s second issue. It takes Jones a long time–two issues being a long time for this one–to define what the series is going to be (an almost-espionage thriller with a few twists, major and minor) and once he does, Watkiss’s art doesn’t work anymore. Yes, seeing Watkiss […]
