Having never read THB, I don’t know how appropriate an introduction this issue is for it. But it’s a wonderful book, where Pope shows off his artistic skills, as well as his storytelling abilities–but also his philosophic read on the comic book medium. Vaughan’s Swamp Thing now makes a bunch of sense. I thought he was just ignoring Mark Millar’s run, but he’s not. He’s shitting on the previous Swamp Thing comic and the work of those writers.
