What does God need with a starship? What does Dracula need with a helicopter? That question, along with an eye-roll about every villain desperately needing some ancient tome Jack Russell usually happens upon accidentally, sums up the crossover. The first half, in Tomb of Dracula, is pretty solid (except Wolfman’s Transylvanian bar thug who speaks […]

Werewolf by Night #13-14 by Marv Wolfman and Mike Ploog

Finally, one of Werewolf’s longest subplots–the mystery of Jack’s step-father–gets wrapped up. It’s about ten issues too late, especially given Wolfman’s weak close to it (I’m assuming it’s the original conclusion, even if Gerry Conway’s not writing, the editor’s the same). It’s also an example of how having two different artists can show off just how good the first […]

Marvel Movie Premiere #1 by Marv Wolfman and Sonny Trinidad

So I guess there isn’t a Marvel Movie Premiere #2. I must have read about this adaptation of The Land That Time Forgot (I hate seeing ‘that’ used so poorly, typing it repeatedly is going to be torturous) about fifteen years ago, maybe more, undoubtedly in a Werewolf by Night or Monster of Frankenstein issue. […]
